The last couple of days for me have been filled with pictures and articles of cars that produce so much want. From my Road & Track magazine (which, by the way, has such an amazing cover), an article on Speedhunters about the 997 RS 4.0, to a pristine NSX on sale that I just saw on Oppo. But they all just seem out of reach.
It's not really about the money, I suppose. Granted, money is what buys these things but I think it's more about getting to the point where you have the money to spend on these works of art.
The past year for me have also been filled with success stories and how people have gotten rich, especially the last couple of days. I see one very obvious similarity between all of the stories; extreme amounts of hard work and dedication in whatever was being pursued which most of the time was becoming rich.
It's a daunting task if you think about it. Especially if you haven't been raised with the mindset very successful people have. It's hard to stay motivated and keep a positive mindset. It's hard to discipline yourself the way role models have. The amount of habits to quit and habits to actually take up.
It's hard but not at all impossible. The wrong mindset at this point would be to say that you can't do it and just sit there continuing to do nothing.
Without making this into a self-help post, I'll get to the point. The way I see it, these cars are an inspiration. They're motivating and they make me want to work hard to achieve them. The greatest feeling in the world has to be acquiring a dream (whatever it is) through all your hard work and dedication.
All car guys, I think, especially Opponauts like you and I, should see dream cars like this. As an inspiration and motivation to start doing something for yourself and to become successful.
If I may end this piece with a little bit about myself; I'm only 19 years young and realize I have my whole life ahead of me. But I can't help shake the feeling that I'm not going to be successful because of the position I'm in currently. But I also feel like I know what to do or at least how to start working hard and disciplining myself to become successful and achieve my dream cars.
I have already achieved one dream car of mine through working hard (albeit for money): my Miata. :)

You've got a lot more figured out at 19 than I did at 25. You're gonna do great things.

You bet, man. I mean it, too. If you're looking for some good reads that'll help you feel like you're on the right path, pick up "How good do you want to be?" by Nick Saban and "Tribal Leadership" by Dave Logan. I've found both invaluable. TED has a ton of great talks about the philosophy of leadership and excellence, too.
